James Taylor Re-Signs with Richardson Racing

Richardson Racing can today confirm that it has agreed a deal to retain highly-rated youngster James Taylor for the 2019 Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship season.

Yorkshire racer James will return for a second season in Richardson Racing colours, having made his debut in the highly competitive one-make series in 2018.

Having clinched the Ginetta Junior Scholarship in late 2017, James elected to run with Richardson Racing as his prize drive and wasted little time in getting up to speed on track.

Three overall podium finishes helped him to finish an impressive sixth in the championship standings in his rookie season, with James being one of only three drivers to score points in all 26 races.

With a season of experience under his belt, and having shown himself capable of running at the sharp end of the field, James goes into 2019 ready to launch a championship challenge.

News that James will remain with the team for the new season means all four Junior drivers who completed 2018 with Richardson Racing will continue their involvement with the team during the year ahead.

James Taylor said:

"After a strong season in 2018 where I learned a huge amount, I'm extremely grateful for everything the team has done to help me get into a position where we can return for a second season; they are truly incredible people and I cannot thank them enough.

"We've had some solid testing already over the winter and now I'm really looking forward to getting to Brands Hatch for the opening round of the year. I'm hoping that when we get there, I can perform at my best and show what I'm capable of in 2019.

"This is the biggest and most important season of racing I've done in my career so far and focus is fully on trying to launch a challenge for the championship."

Having seen how he won the 2018 Ginetta Junior Scholarship, we knew that James was going to be a quick driver and that was shown in the results he secured on track during the year. But we didn't realise just how well he would develop as a driver through the year, and he deserved every podium he got.

"Looking ahead to this year it won't be long before he's challenging for his first overall win, and that will certainly set him up as one of the main contenders for championship honours.
